Alexander Merlyn
For those that haven’t read the book, Merlyn is the current Head Teacher of Merlyn Academy. The school has been in his family for generations and produced some of the best (and worst) witches and wizards known.
Merlyn is one of those characters who, even as I wrote him, I wasn’t 100% sure if he was a good or bad guy. He has his own motivations for what he does and sometimes they align with Lizzie’s. But not always. He is a complex man and I recently wrote a prequel to add to my newsletter as I feel there was a lot of things that weren’t fully explained in the trilogy. Particularly why Merlyn seemed interested in a former foster child who had only recently joined the magical world. To avoid spoiling things, I would read the trilogy first as the prequel may give a little too much away.
He is a character I would like to explore more.
